As part of the new face of MyAstoria.com, we are looking for writing talent residing in the Astoria/LIC area. Are you a freelance writer, blogger or just an opinionated Astorian with something to say? Political, funny, an observation or a story? . . . We want to know.
We are looking to incorporate community editorials into our new site format, as well as to promote fresh literary talent from our diverse community. If you meet this critera and want to be heard, click here and tell us something about yourself!
What Can We Submit?
Please note that the word Astoria as a subject (and for the geographical scope of this site) encompasses all of Astoria, Long Island City, and Ditmars.
- Letters to the Editor about today's Astoria issues that concern you (e.g. quality of life, inflation, polution, etc.)
- Any blog/journal entry, anecdote or observation about Astoria.
- Poetry/Lyrics About Astoria
- Community, City, State, or National Politics that affect any aspect of living in Astoria.
- Public Letters to Local Concilman, State Senators and Community Leaders.
- Freelance reporting on community events/issues.
Please Note: All submissions are subject to review and revision. Not all submissions will be approved. Submissions should be 100 - 1000 words each. Submissions may not gratuitously make use of profanity or deal with subject matter that may be deemed offensive or slanderous to any one group or individual.
What Do You Get?
We will feature you, the author, under your printed submission, include a one paragraph bio and picture (optional) and link to your website -- a great way to gain exposure from our continually growing community!! Anonymous submissions are also welcomed!
